It finally happened

It finally happened on Saturday afternoon.  I was sitting in the living room with Joe and stood up to get a mop bucket by the side of the couch.  I stepped down and freaked out.  I didn't realize Joe's machete was in a different position than usual until it sliced my foot open.  I sliced my pinkie toe from side to side on the back in the joint.  I freaked!!  I now know I'm better suited for taking care of other bleeding people but not myself.  Oh my gosh did it bleed.  I know I need stitches so we head over to the Urgent Care Center.  We get there like 30 minutes before they close.  Well they say they think I severed a tendon so they send me to the ER.  They clean my foot and then send us off.  We go to North Florida instead of Shands.  We waited about 3 hours.  Then we got called back.  Had X-rays and then had to have my toe numbed.  OH MY GOSH!!  It hurt worse than cutting my foot open to begin with.  So they numb me up and stitch up my toe.  There wasn't any tendon or ligament damage I just didn't want to bend my toe without pain relief because it would pop open and bleed and I couldn't handle that.  I have six stitches and have to wear a post-op shoe for ten days.  Then I get my stitches out.  So, I finally got stitches for being a ding dong.  I have to say my entire ER trip was about 4 hours.  So not too bad.

The machete was in a different position???? What the ... machetes DO NOT belong in any position in a LIVING ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe's just getting all of his dangerous-tools-randomly-placed-around-the-house out before you guys start having kids.

And thanks for the funky toe pics:) It wasn't so much the toe as the bloody cotton balls by the toe that made me want to pass out.

Don't blame Joe, I'm the one that put it in the living room to get it out of the bedroom when we were re-arranging our furniture. I'm fine, I'm at work now so it's not too bad. Just super tired and my good leg is tired from being stood on all day!!

Yes, from experience, I believe the numbing shots worse than anything. I'm glad you're alright! I'm so excited that you both are coming back to Bama! Can't wait to see you!

I'm thinking machetes belong in tops of closets...you know, out of the way, brought down for the random clearing of acreage and such.
I thought we were bad having a billy club by the bed.
